Nothing beats putting pen to paper. It might feel antiquated in the era of AI, but the personal touch of a handwritten journal entry or birthday card is irreplaceable.

That’s why I’ve become enamored with No Particular Order, which offers screen-free ways to log your innermost thoughts and keep your handwriting skills up to speed. Its products have accompanied me through my post-grad existential crisis, acted as a wingwoman in my (sad) dating life, and even as a travel buddy on my recent trip to Japan.

Right now, the brand is running a sale to celebrate its founder Margot Lee’s 28th birthday. Until 16 August, you can save 28% on a bundle of her most-loved items, including a guided journal, the Everything Birthday Card, a set of Acquaintance cards, and a travel diary.

In our Do Not Disturb series, I’ve written about my favorite ways to lower my screen time – including logging my favorite books in a reading journal and using a physical planner. Writing in No Particular Order’s journals is another one of my go-to ways to log off.

In 2023, I purchased its Volume One Journal, which has 200 guided prompts and a white, customizable cover. I used this journal during the inevitable post-grad freak-out I experienced upon completing my undergraduate degree. Its prompts helped me connect with myself, with questions such as: “If you had the chance to ask one question and get a definitive answer, what would it be?” and “Who’s in your inner circle?” But you don’t need to be soul seeking to appreciate the thought-provoking questions: I recommended this journal in our guide to indoor activities to keep boredom at bay during a heatwave.

And, if you, or someone you know, has tired of the depressing world that is online dating, I recommend its Acquaintance Cards, which can help break the ice in person – like business cards for romantic connections. I put it to the test during a night out in New York City.

Most recently, I used its Off the Grid travel journal, where I taped receipts from Japanese convenience stores, recorded my favorite memories and answered guided prompts while visiting Japan.

No Particular Order’s birthday bundle is a chance to try, or gift the brand’s staple items – and who knows, perhaps even meet the love of your life.
