For example, remote job postings have surged 22% in the second quarter of 2026, according to FlexJobs’ Remote Economy Index.
And beyond that, three specific types of jobs have spiked in remote job listings by as much as 35% for the first six months of the year, compared with the prior six-month period.
These roles are important because they show that companies right now are prioritizing hiring for positions with a direct connection to revenue growth, pipeline building, and client retention. If you’ve been laid off or are worried that restructuring could impact your role, and you are a caregiver or have some other requirement that makes working from home necessary, these are the job areas you need to set your sights on:
FlexJobs’ records show that remote jobs in sales, business development, and account management showed the strongest growth, more than 35% in the first half of 2026 compared to the prior six months.
Other jobs that made it into the top 10 ranking, although not quite securing the top three spots, include operations (31%) and communications (30%).
Remote Sales Jobs
Beyond the stereotypical image of a sales rep making cold calls all day, remote sales jobs extend to:

- Partnerships lead
- Partnerships manager

If you already work in a role where you must persuade others to make a decision or negotiate to close a deal, you’re more closely suited to a remote job in sales than you think.
