Remote work at $65 an hour or more is real, but it clusters in a narrower set of fields than most “high-paying remote jobs” lists suggest. Every role below is grounded in live BLS wage and growth data rather than a recruiter’s pitch, and $65 an hour is presented as an attainable rate once someone has the right credentials, not a guaranteed starting wage.

Positioning for one of these roles could open the door to helping you get ahead financially from home.

Make Money: 8 dumb ways to make money (almost anyone can do this)

    1. Computer and information systems manager

    Median hourly wage: $82.31

These managers plan and direct an organization’s technology strategy and staff. It’s a role that rewards judgment built from years of hands-on systems management.

A bachelor’s degree plus five or more years of experience is typical; demand is projected to grow 15% through 2034, much faster than average.

    2. Financial manager

    Median hourly wage: $77.74

Financial managers oversee an organization’s financial health, from budgeting to investment strategy, advising leadership on where money should go next.

A bachelor’s degree plus finance experience covers the entry path, and at the senior end, fractional or remote CFO arrangements are increasingly common.

    3. Marketing manager

    Median hourly wage: $77.42

Marketing managers plan and direct a company’s marketing, advertising, and promotional campaigns, turning strategy into a message that reaches customers.

A bachelor’s degree plus campaign experience covers the entry path, and marketing is one of the more remote-normalized management fields already.

Make Money: 12 ways to pocket up to $300

    4. Lawyer

    Median hourly wage: $72.67

Lawyers advise and represent clients on legal matters, from contracts to litigation, drawing on deep expertise in a specific area of law.

A law degree and bar license cover the requirements; transactional and advisory work is far more remote-friendly than litigation, and demand is projected to grow as fast as average.

    5. Compensation and benefits manager

    Median hourly wage: $67.48

Compensation and benefits managers design and oversee how an organization pays and rewards employees, work built almost entirely around data, policy, and spreadsheets.

A bachelor’s degree plus five or more years of HR experience is typical; employment is projected to hold flat, though roughly 1,500 openings a year are still expected from turnover.

    6. Human resources manager

    Median hourly wage: $67.32

Human resources managers direct an organization’s hiring, compliance, and employee relations functions, with judgment built on handling similar situations before.

A bachelor’s degree plus five or more years of experience is typical, and many HR roles are now remote or hybrid; demand is projected to grow faster than average.

    7. Public relations manager

    Median hourly wage: $66.60

Public relations managers direct the strategy and messaging that shapes how an organization is perceived publicly, coordinating media relations and crisis work.

A bachelor’s degree plus relevant experience covers the entry path, and the role is largely remote-compatible outside event-heavy periods.

    8. Sales manager

    Median hourly wage: $66.38

Sales managers recruit, train, and direct a sales team, setting targets and coaching staff toward hitting them.

A bachelor’s degree plus sales experience covers the entry path; remote fit varies by industry, since some sales leadership still requires travel.

    9. Computer network architect

Median hourly wage: $62.69 (top 10% earn $97.44 hourly)

Computer network architects design and build the data networks, from local systems to wide-area infrastructure, organizations depend on.

A bachelor’s degree plus five or more years of experience is typical. The median sits just under $65 an hour, but the role is remote-compatible, and 12% projected growth through 2034 keeps upward pressure on wages, with experienced architects regularly clearing $65.

Break the Cycle: 8 moves to escape the paycheck to paycheck grind

    10. Training and development manager

Median hourly wage: $61.10 (top 10% earn $112.31)

Training and development managers plan and direct the programs that build employee skills across a company.

A bachelor’s or master’s degree plus experience covers the entry path; the median sits just under $65 an hour, but demand is projected to grow faster than average, and manager-level pay with a strong portfolio clears $65 regularly.

    11. Actuary

Median hourly wage: $60.47 (top 10% earn $103.41)

Actuaries calculate the financial risk behind future events, using statistical models to price insurance and manage risk.

A bachelor’s degree in math or statistics covers the entry point, with professional exams passed over several years; the median sits just under $65 an hour, but demand is projected to grow much faster than average, and each exam passed pushes pay higher.

    12. Information security analyst

Median hourly wage: $60.05 (top 10% earn $96.08)

Information security analysts plan and carry out measures that protect an organization’s computer networks and systems from attack.

A bachelor’s degree plus related experience or certification covers the entry path; the median sits just under $65 an hour, but this is one of the fastest-growing jobs BLS tracks, projected to grow 29% through 2034, and certified analysts routinely clear $65 and beyond.

    Bottom line

None of these roles pays $65 an hour to someone with no credentials or experience; the rate reflects a degree, a certification, a passed exam, or years spent building expertise in a field. The clearest way in is picking one lane, whether that’s a security certification, an actuarial exam, or a portfolio of marketing or PR work, and building toward it deliberately rather than assuming remote work at this level is easy to land.

Doing that work now could genuinely build real wealth over a full career.
