The market for high-paying freelance remote jobs has never been stronger. In fact, a Fiverr survey of 500 executives across the U.S. notes that employers are increasingly inclined to turn to freelancers to fill their talent gap and to cope with the strain of business demands, with many planning to increase their usage of freelance talent in the near future.
Professionals across specific niches and industries such as tech, design, writing, and consulting, are in high demand, and with the right effort and a unique set of skills, they can, over time, find themselves making a lucrative income (if not more) as they would earn in a traditional job.
Today, motivations for professionals pursuing freelance work are mainly driven by a lack of trust in the traditional employer/employee relationship, insecurity and uncertainty about job futures and prospects, and the desire to work in a role (and way) that fulfils their purpose and values, according to a recent State Of Independence study by MBO Partners, which surveyed over 1,000 full-time and side-hustle freelancers.
What’s very intriguing is that, although working solely independently has its challenges due to lack of predictable income, retirement benefits, and other perks, “31% of those with traditional jobs said working independently is less risky than permanent employment,” up from only 18% agreeing with that statement in 2018.
